From waste to value – SUSFERT at WKO

SUSFERT to present biobased fertiliser achievements

Join us on 12^th December, 2023, from 9:30am to 4:30pm for the event ‘Highlights der biobasierten Industrie’ (‘Highlights of the Biobased Industry’) organized by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology. The event will take place at the headquarters of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO), in room ‘Julius Raab’, Wiedner Hauptstraße 63, 1045 Vienna, Austria. If you cannot attend in person, you are invited to participate virtually and follow the event via live stream. Please note that for both in person and virtual participation free registration for the event is required. Contributions and discussions will be in German.

The event is part of a series of events this year marking its 10th anniversary. The goal is to provide insights into current research projects on the innovative use of renewable raw materials and 2023 focuses in particular on current developments and projects on biorefineries. Specific insights will be provided into the future development of biorefineries in Europe, the role of enzymes for biorefineries and the Ministry’s planned RTI measures with respect to circular economy and production technologies. SUSFERT is delighted to present its innovations and contribution to the circular economy on stage and at an exhibition booth.

Re-using industrial bio-waste for fertiliser production

SUSFERT addresses the ecological challenges associated with traditional fertilizers and has developed more sustainable, multifunctional prototypes. They can effectively replace natural phosphorus, increase iron supply, and replace environmentally damaging coatings with more sustainable solutions allowing for a controlled release of nutrients for the plants. Through the re-use of industrial bio-waste for the production of SUSFERT fertilisers, the project also aims to strengthen the circular economy and to contribute to more sustainable and ecological practices in farming.

At the event, SUSFERT, in collaboration with its esteemed project partners SAPPI and AGRANA, will present insights under the theme “From Waste to Value,” showcasing pioneering approaches to transforming waste materials into valuable fertilizers. This participation not only underscores SUSFERT’s commitment to sustainable practices but also positions the project as a significant player in driving positive change within the agricultural landscape for the coming years.
